Another Installment

Sometimes when I’m feeling a little down or just bored, I look at male catalog models and make up chick-literature like stories about them. It’s a fun way to pass the time. And it never gets old. Seriously, read them more than once, they get more ridiculous with each reading.

Some back story: This is Jason (editor’s note: at least that’s what I’ve been calling him) and he comes from the Eddie Bauer catalog. Jason likes hiking and being out in nature. He teaches horticulture classes at one of the universities where he lives. He loves playing Words with Friends, he can’t get enough of it. He especially loves trying to beat his girlfriend at it…but he never does. Sometimes he cheats and she knows, but she lets him get away with it, because he’s so handsome and always makes her blueberry pancakes on the Saturday mornings when they’re together. They’ve been going out for a little while and he’s been looking for the right time to tell her something…and what better time than when you’re on a hike?

“Jason, just because I said I liked hiking doesn’t mean that I like hiking.” M. sighed heavily as she took off her backpack.

Jason looked at her with a small smile on his face, “So what does it mean, M?”

“It means that I like the idea of hiking. There’s a serious difference.” M sat on nearby rock and took a sip of her water.

“I just thought it would be a nice way for us to spend the day together.”

“Ugh, you are making it impossible for me to be hating this right now. It’s just that, you know how I feel about going to the bathroom outdoors.”

Jason laughed, “I know, I know! It’s actually kind of endearing, you not wanting to pee in the wilderness.”

“Oh shut up! It’s easy for you! I have to make sure I don’t pee on myself! That’s not cool at all!” M tossed her water bottle at him and he laughed as he caught it.

“You’re so weird.”

“I know.” She looked at him smiling.

“That’s why I love you.” Jason sat next to her on rock.

“Wait, what did you just say?” M turned to look at him, not sure if he had actually said those words to her.

“I said I love you.”

“That’s what I thought you said.” Jason touched the side of her face and sighed.

“You’re so beautiful. I just want to tell you that every day.”

M let out a small laugh, “I won’t stop you.”

“Nice. This is why I keep you around.” Jason put his arm around M’s and she rested her head on his shoulder, nestling herself into the groove of his neck.

“I love you too.”

Jason looked down at her, “Really?”

M looked up and laughed, “Ha! Why are you so surprised? I was just waiting for you to say it first.”

Jason rolled his eyes, “You would! You’re so difficult.”

“Whatever, you love me.” M. smiled.

“I know.” Jason pulled M.’s face up to his and kissed her.

“See, that’s why I keep you around.” M grabbed Jason’s hand as they sat on that rock, watching the leaves glisten in the sunlight.

Ego Boost

Well my little gems, I successfully survived my first class of the semester. I kept yawning through the whole thing, but I survived.

I’m so tired! Work and school on the same day, I think my body is in shock.

I figured I would relay this entertaining little tidbit from my day. During my lunch break, my coworker and I decided to hit up a little cafe a couple of blocks away. We use lunch as an excuse to get out of the office and refresh our brains. Normally,  I bring something to eat and we sit in this little pavement park and scope out dudes. It’s the little things that make getting through the day worth it. Today, on our way back to the office we were walking and this posse of three teenagers (maybe? Trying to tell how old someone is, is getting to be too hard.) was walking towards us. There were two girls and a boy. The boy looked a little bit like he could have been a skateboarder in 90’s hailing from California. Now, this kid looked at me kind of intently and then says as he’s passing, “You have a really nice face”. That little asshole made my day! I said, “Uh, thanks?” and continued on my way.

Too bad he appeared to be too young for me. I could be out on a date right now.

I have my Rare Books class at the NYPL tomorrow night…I’ll fill you in on what it’s like to be in a library after hours!

Guess What I Found?!

Another successful night of packing. I almost have my bookshelf cleared! Three boxes and one suitcase full of books and dvds; I really need to start utilizing the library. It would making packing much, much easier.

Well tonight I found a couple of gems in one of my many Rubbermaid tubs. It’s kind of insane how many of those things I have. I’m looking to turn them into a desk once I hit my new apartment. If that’s at all possible, now that I’m looking at them, it doesn’t really seem like it would work. We’ll see. I’m sure you’ll be reading about it soon enough!

On to the good stuff. I’m really learning a lot about myself during this packing process. Mainly that I had all these big ideas for craft projects that I never got started on. Also, that I collected a lot of weird stuff. Some of it I’m not even sure where it came from.

The first item from Meaghan’s Magical Mystery Miscellany: Star Trek: The Next Generation Fabric.

The only thing that would make this better is Commander Riker’s face screen printed on it.

I bought this either my sophomore or junior year of college off of eBay. Basically, this is the best eBay purchase I’ve ever made. Well, it’s a close race between this and an ALF stuffed animal. When I bought this, I think that I was going to make a vest out of it. I say this, because I found a men’s vest pattern the other night. Ugh, seriously. I think I was going to make it for a man friend of mine. He might have previously dumped me and maybe I thought that would be a good way to get him back…a fucking vest. I thought a vest was a good way to get someone to like to me again. Ha! Clearly, I was an idiot. Well, I’m glad that didn’t work out! Because now I have this left over fabric! The possibilities are endless with this. I could make shorts! Curtains! Pillowcases! Placemats! This is exciting!

The second item I found tonight is a book: Ghostwriter: A Match of Wills. YES. THAT GHOSTWRITER. I have to put this video in before I show you this book.

“He’s a ghost and he writes to us. Ghostwriter.” I want to know who is responsible for writing that line. They were obviously underpaid.

I wonder how much I paid for this.

The best part about this Ghostwriter book, beside Jamal being featured heavily on the cover is this:

The answer to the previous question: obviously not enough.

It’s signed by two of the actors from the show! Mayteana Morales played Gaby Fernandez and Todd Alexander played Rob Baker. Obviously I got this second hand, which makes me wonder who would give something like this away!? This is something that should be cherished, possibly framed. I’m not even sure where I got this, but boy am I glad that I took it home with me! So that I could forget it about it for years and then suddenly find it and think it is the greatest thing ever…again.

Packing is kind of like Christmas.
